What a great team!
On Saturday, the Old Herren II Bad Neuenahr participated in an indoor tournament in Sinzig. In the final, coach Ralf Bachem's team defeated SG Sinzig/Koisdorf 1-0.
Orange is the new black – or so they say. JC Heerlebann's team had to concede defeat to the "double city oldies" with a 1-0 in the preliminary round, as did SG Westum/Löhndorf (2-0) and SG Birresdorf/Leimersdorf (1-0). Against SG Koisdorf/Sinzig and Hertha Bonn, the Bachem squad shared the points with a 2-2 and 1-1, respectively. As runner-up in the group, AH II advanced to the semi-finals, where they faced Sportfreunde Bengen.
After a 1-1 tie in regular time, Metush Gerguri scored for the district team, and a penalty shootout had to decide who would advance to the final. Metush Gerguri and Arianit Haxihu kept their cool and scored twice. On the other hand, the team from the county missed twice, allowing AH II to advance to the final.
As in the group stage, when they drew 2-2, they faced the combined team from Koisdorf and Sinzig. And again, in the final match, a draw was in sight, leading to another decision from the penalty spot. However, Aldin Sukic, whose body defies the laws of nature and seemingly doesn't age, seized the goal-scoring opportunity in the final minute to score the decisive winning goal.
A deserved victory for the strongest team in the tournament, who nevertheless had great difficulty converting their chances. CONGRATULATIONS!!
