This year, Ahrweiler BC is celebrating its one hundredth birthday. As part of the festivities, which will take place throughout the year, an exhibition was opened last Friday at Kreissparkasse Ahrweiler. Under the leadership of ABC veterans Wolfgang Schäfer and Herbert Weller, and with the kind and extensive support of Manuela Ellerich (Sales Management, Kreissparkasse Ahrweiler), a photographic exhibition with various artifacts was created, documenting the history of the traditional club from the Ahr Valley from its foundation to the present day.
"The ABC is a flagship of Ahrweiler. An association we are proud of," said Dieter Zimmermann, Chairman of the Kreissparkasse Ahrweiler, in his opening speech to the over 70 invited guests. In the presence of Norbert Bocks, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Borussia Mönchengladbach, ABC President Torsten Schweigert also pointed to the now 50-year friendship between the Bundesliga club from the Lower Rhine and Ahrweiler BC. The First Deputy Mayor of the twin city of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler, Peter Diewald, spoke of a "well-prepared event" by one of the most important sports clubs in the city, which particularly stands out for its "good and meaningful youth work."
The exhibition "100 YEARS AHRWEILER BALLSPIEL CLUB" runs until March 12th, inclusive, at the premises of Kreissparkasse Ahrweiler, located at Wilhelmstraße 1, during regular business hours.
The Ahrweiler BC would also like to thank Thomas Nöllgen very much for the video he created for the 100th anniversary.
