Another groundbreaking personnel decision has been made regarding the U23 squad planning: Rani Fhile, Gersi Agolli, and Bilal Elgergawy from the current Rheinlandliga U19 squad will remain loyal to the ABC and move up to the U23 squad for the upcoming season. A total of six youngsters from the U19 squad have so far chosen this path.
Gersi Agolli (9 appearances) and Bilal Elgergawy (11 appearances) are two technically proficient attacking players who have proven in the current Rheinlandliga season that they have sufficient potential to be gradually introduced to the demands of senior football. Central midfielder Rani Fhile is still suffering from the consequences of a serious knee injury from the previous season and will likely not be able to actively participate in games again until the course of the upcoming season. "Rani should take all the time in the world. We know what he can do. As soon as he is fit again, we trust him to develop into a key player in the team in a very short time," says U23 coach Mario Brötz.
"I'm pleased that the boys have opted for a sporting perspective. It's the right way to develop individually," says sporting director Denis Schäfer.
We are delighted that Gersi, Rani, and Bilal will continue to wear the ABC jersey.
