+OLD GENTLEMEN II BACK ON THE ARTIFICIAL TURF - DOUBLE VICTORY+

The old gentlemen, although not quite as early as the younger generation of the ball-kicking profession, have also found their way back to the soccer field and to friendly matches after the Corona-induced break. Coach Ralf Bachem's team played against Birresdorf on October 1st and won 1-0 (0-0) in a match that was generally poor in scoring chances. Dennis Preußner scored the day's only goal in the 40th minute after the opposing goalkeeper failed to control a powerful shot from Michael Lorca.

Just a few days later, this time facing the seasoned veterans from Niederzissen, the oldies were drawn back to the artificial turf of the middle field in Bad Neuenahr. The Bachem team controlled the game from the start. Dennis Preußner, who had scored from a rebound at the right time and place in the previous match, proved to be a set-piece specialist this time. Although Niederzissen's goalkeeper got a touch on Preußner's free kick in the 13th minute, he couldn't prevent the home team from taking the lead. "If you've got it, you've got it," Preußner probably thought in the 25th minute. He scored again with a free kick for AH II. The ball, struck from 20 meters, dipped unimpeded into the visitors' goal. Before halftime, a beautiful passing play led to the 3-0 lead (31'). Aldin Sukic laid off a precise pass from Bekim Gerguri to Gianfranco Di Francesco, who only had to tap it into the empty net, once again making his mark as a goalscorer. At least in an advanced Chianti celebration mood, it's permissible for his name to be mentioned in the same breath as Italian strikers like Giga Riva, Paolo Rossi, Salvatore "Totò" Schillaci, and Francesco Totti.

Measured by chances, the old-timers were convincing in the second 35 minutes as well, but the team was not nearly as successful in finishing as before the break. Roman Panin, one of the two heads of the Old Boys II (AH II) Bad Neuenahr alongside Danilo Arata, Aldin Sukic and Bekim Gerguri, failed in front of the opposing goal. The latter even missed a penalty. AH II coach Ralf Bachem summarized both matches as "fair and good".
