++ABC III: 2-0 away win in Unkelbach++

A strong goalkeeper Joshua Köhler, a convincing director Furkan Kalin, and the accuracy of Benedikt Ferber and Adnan Gerguri ensured a deserved 2-0 away win for Ahrweiler BC III against BSC Unkelbach on Sunday afternoon. With this victory, the city’s representatives remain undefeated in the Kreisliga C and currently sit in third place in the league standings after 5 games with 13 points.

Head coach Mohamed Abou-Ayda had to do without a total of five regular players, including very short-notice withdrawals due to illness, forcing the coach himself to put on a jersey one more time. "Stay patient and keep a clean sheet at the back. We'll get one or two goals up front," was the coach's announcement before the game. Easier said than done. In the expectedly tough and hard-fought match on the difficult-to-play hard court in Unkelbach, Adnan Gerguri (43') and Benedikt Ferber (75') scored for the ultimately deserved fourth win of the season. "The halftime lead gave us confidence. After the 2-0, the game was over," said Mohamed Abou-Ayda. However, the game was not a walk in the park. It required a strong performance from midfielder Furkan Kalin and another solid display from goalkeeper Joshua Köhler, who kept a clean sheet with several good saves.

A caliber of a different kind awaits the team this coming Friday in Remagen (8:00 PM). Then, there will be a clash with the league favorite and second-placed SG Vinxtbachtal, who have had five wins and one draw so far. "An opponent with quality and routine," is the assessment of Mohamed Abou-Ayda.
