After only one draw in their last four competitive matches, one can speak of a crisis for ABC's third team. They seem to be losing sight of the promotion spots in the Kreisliga C, and in the district cup, they suffered a 0-1 defeat against SG Ahrtal II. Last weekend, they lost their matchday 10 duel against SC Rhein-Ahr Sinzig 1-2 (1-1).
A lot of football was played on the Remagen artificial turf pitch at the weekend between ABC III and the main town kickers from Sinzig, before Bilal Elgergawy (symbol photo) pleased the spirits of his teammates and the ABC friends in the stands with his goal to make it 1-0 (39th minute). But the joy was short-lived. Sinzig veteran Jimmy Morales unleashed a bomb from 25 meters before the halftime tea and scored a volley to make it 1-1 (43rd minute) at halftime.
Even in the second half, as in the previous 45 minutes of play, fighting spirit and effort were the trump cards for the teams playing at eye level. Of all people, Gersi Agolli, formerly in the jerseys of ABC's U23 and U19, scored to make it 1:2 (62'). The equally lively and likeable attacking player positioned himself perfectly on a throw-in by the yellow-blacks and sent the ball into the corner at the far post. At the latest, after a sending-off (yellow-red, 77') of a player from the district capital, any comeback in this match was over. The Barbarossa City team was alert at the right moment and thus deservedly earned the three points. The gap to second place in the table, which is also a promotion spot, has grown to five points for the "Thirds".
The best medicine against incipient autumn depression is victories. Preferably in the next game on Friday, October 28th, against promoted team and current second-to-last placed SV Kripp II.
