Even before the third round Kreisklasse (D-7) match, it was clear that an exciting and hard-fought game was to be expected. With a thin squad, Simon Grüninger's team had to compete against Westum's third team on Friday. All seven young ABC players had to play the entire game due to a lack of substitute players.
The hometown team found fitting responses to the hosts' respective leads through Qays Yousef (15') and Leon Haxhiu (40'). As the ABC's strength waned, SG Westum gained a tactical advantage during the second half. However, the ABC's youth squad defended consistently and could ultimately enjoy the reward of a point at the end of a strenuous match.
With two draws out of three games now, the E III is still waiting for their first win of the season. This could potentially be achieved next Friday during their away game against the bottom-ranked team, SGL Heimersheim III.
