ABC takes down the cup hurdle with ease – 4-1 victory against SC Saffig

Title defender Ahrweiler BC has confidently overcome the hurdle of the quarter-finals in the U35 Rhineland Cup with a 4-1 (2-0) victory over SC Saffig, bringing the mission of defending the title closer and closer.

The team coached by Ralf Bachem won the last weekend in Vettelhoven over the attractive team of SC Saffig with a convincing 4-1 victory and is now in the semi-finals of the competition, which the Oldies from the Ahrtal won last year with a final victory against the FV Rübenach.

Thanks to a early lead goal scored by Mario Brötz (8th minute) after a brotherly exchange between Bekim and Shpetim Gerguri, ABC made life difficult for the guests who were lurking for counter-attacking opportunities from the start on the artificial turf in Vettelhoven. Ivan Bossauer, who received the ball in the 18th minute of the game through Shpetim Gerguri’s second assist, had to just push the round vinyl into the temporarily reassuring 2-0 halftime score.

Any doubts that the semi-final ticket might still be out of reach vanished after just over an hour of play. Michael Rademacher’s pass now saw striker Ivan Bossauer also make an appearance as a forward. Aldin Sukic’s assist converted the goal into a 3:0 (63’) lead. The late goal by Kevin Neumann (65’) after a corner kick should not have taken the Ahrweiler BC’s 35th minute team out of their stride. Only 120 seconds later, Fernando Alvaro scored the 4:1 (67’) goal with a header after the home goalkeeper had earlier managed to block a long shot by Aldin Sukic.

Coach "Ralle" Bachem analyzed the game as follows: "A deserved victory. We controlled the game from the beginning."
