After a confident 0-3 (0-1) away win on Saturday at JSG Unterahr Bodendorf II, the D III juniors were able to secure second place in the standings with two matchdays left in the season. Coach Alexander Blauhaupt spoke after the game of a "good game and a deserved success" for his protégés.
The city-town kickers started the game well and had more of the play than the hosts. After a breakthrough on the right flank, team captain Ibrahim Othman scored the deserved 0-1 (20') halftime lead.
After the break, the boys of Alexander Blauhaupt and Goran Strk managed to maintain their tempo and concentration, thus staying one step ahead of their opponents for the most part. The defense, led by the reliable keeper Louis Barkholz, allowed very little, and towards the opponent's goal, the young ABClers repeatedly found ways to dangerously approach the combined team's net. Luc Wiemer scored immediately after the restart to make it 0-2 (31'), and ten minutes later, Sebastian Laudani secured the final 0-3 (41') score. Overall, it was a good performance from the D III team, who have home games against JSG Adenau (May 13th) and JSG Bad Breisig (May 17th) remaining to close out the season.
