Ahrweiler BC's U14 team impressively mastered their home debut in the 2023/2024 district league season. After an impressive performance improvement in the second half, the boys coached by Fabian Lorca and Karl Heinz Classen secured a convincing 7-0 (1-0) victory against JSG Vordereifel Mayen, temporarily pushing aside the memory of their 1-5 opening loss to JSG Hunsrück.
Even in the first half, our U14 dominated and had more possession than the youth team from Mayen, who had also started with a loss. Numerous players from our ranks tried their shot, but the necessary precision was still lacking. But then, in the 29th minute, Paul Curth showed his class and scored the 1-0 from 20 meters.
In the second half, our young ABC players stepped it up another notch. Mateusz Burgielski significantly contributed with his goal to make it 2-0 (36th minute) shortly after the restart. Aron Doll shone as the assist provider for Simon Gros's goal (3-0 in the 46th minute) and Gustaf Scharnbeck's goal (5-0 in the 52nd minute). Lewin Nazifi increased the lead to 4-0 in between (48th minute), and Amando Bugujevciu (68th minute) and Tonis Xhafaj (70th minute) rounded off a successful home opener in the summer heat. Further goals were certainly possible, and Mayen was unlucky in the 50th minute with a shot that hit the post.
Before our team faces the supposed league favorite and current league leader JSG Vulkaneifel Ettringen next Saturday, there's still the first-round cup match on Wednesday at TuS Kettig.
