The U17 juniors' autumn break ended with an away game against FC Plaidt on the last Sunday of the 8th matchday. However, Patrick Pöschmann and Moritz Feigk's team needed some time to get back into competitive mode. To be precise, it took almost a whole half.
The team from the Ahr Valley slept through almost the entire first half, which was also reflected in the only goal scored in the first 40 minutes of play. This resulted from a directly converted corner and gave the hosts a deserved narrow halftime lead.
After the break, the players overcame their uncertainty from the first 40 minutes. They defended deeper and were more secure in defense, allowing them to more effectively intercept the home team's long balls. With a bit of luck, William Gläsmann (40') scored the equalizer. His long-range shot for the 1-1 (49') was deflected beforehand. With newfound confidence and security, the team then experienced a good quarter of an hour, during which only the post prevented a go-ahead goal after a shot from Veljko Pörös. In the end, it was a draw that overall reflected the course of the game.
For the team of Pöschmann/Feigk, currently in 5th place in the standings, a home game against the seventh-place team, SV Remagen, is scheduled for November 11th. But first, next Saturday, the U17 must prove themselves in the 3rd round of the Rheinlandpokal. Their opponent is Rheinlandliga team VfL Oberbieber. Kick-off is at 2:30 PM on the artificial turf in Kripp.
