We can make a positive assessment of Ahrweiler BC's U15 team, even though their performance seems modest at first after winning the title last season. Although the oldest C-Juniors cohort narrowly missed out on advancing to the championship round, they are starting the placement round with a solid points cushion. This is due in no small part to a mid-season spurt during the intermediate round, when the team, under new coach Oliver Johann-Ewy, took an important step towards staying in the league with four wins against teams from the lower half of the table.
Unlike the preliminary round, the team was now able to act consistently and was rewarded for their overall good performance so far. The placement round begins after the winter break on March 2nd with a home game against FSV Trier-Tarforst. The Rheinlandpokal was less successful, with the young ABClers being eliminated in the 3rd round against the performance class team JSG Weißenthurm after a penalty shootout.
Overall, a positive conclusion can be drawn from the U15's performances so far. The officials are very satisfied with the team's attitude and commitment. The development, both as a team and individually, also fills coach Oliver Johann-Ewy and the youth director of Ahrweiler BC, Gerd Treffer, with satisfaction. Two new recruits will strengthen the team in the winter, and we hope they will integrate just as well as, for example, Gulio Cristofalo. The summer signing from SGL Heimersheim has scored an impressive 12 goals since the start of the season.
Together towards a successful second half of the season!
