Our U15 indoor district champions competed yesterday against the best 20 teams from Rhineland-Palatinate at the Futsal Rhineland Championship in Montabaur.
Despite a start to the group stage that left room for improvement against JFV Rhein-Hunsrück (0-0), the team solidly qualified for the quarterfinals with only one goal conceded in 4 games.
In the quarterfinals featuring the last 8 teams, Eintracht Trier awaited our red and white junior talents. Right up to the literal last second, both teams engaged in a thrilling back-and-forth with scoring chances on both sides, much to the delight of the spectators. However, in the very last second, Eintracht scored a goal from close range into the bottom right corner, making it 1-0 and securing their spot in the semifinals.
"Of course, it's bitter to be eliminated from the competition so unluckily in the knockout phase, but to deliver such a strong performance against a Regionalliga team, keep your nerves, and display that kind of performance, players and coaches don't need to hide." This is according to head coach Oliver Johann Ewy.
In two weeks, things will continue. On March 2nd, the U15 team starts the second half of the Rheinlandliga against Trier-Tarforst.
