Our U13 participants in the Rheinlandliga championship round have not been able to match their good performances from the autumn round recently. 🏆 The team has had to accept four consecutive defeats in recent weeks, including their cup exit against league rivals SV Heimbach-Weis. For the 5th matchday last Saturday, the team traveled to face competitors TuS Koblenz, a duel between fifth-placed Oberwerth and the sixth-placed city club's youth team.
And the negative streak seemed to continue against the Schängel's youth as well. In the first half, the hosts were the more active and confident team. The narrow 1-0 lead, thanks to a goal in the 10th minute, fully reflected the action on the artificial turf of the Jahnplatz, not far from the Oberwerth stadium.
However, the entire team managed to break free from the shackles of recent persistent failures in the second half and showed a reaction that was perceived from the outside as a very good mentality. With determination and grit, as well as beautifully crafted goals from Lukas Küpper (30'), Edonis Gerguri (38'), and captain Jonas Printzen (60'+1) at the right times, the team turned the game around and had every reason to celebrate themselves after the final whistle. 🎉
This coming Saturday, the team has the opportunity to build on their partly good performance from Oberwerth in the home game against FC Metternich.
