Last Wednesday, our U8 team played an away game against the U10 team of JSG Remagen. Despite a clear defeat, the ABC coaches Gerrit Kanowski and Alem Porca noted numerous positive effects. 👏 This is because they had to compete against opponents who were two years older and physically superior. This experience was of great importance to head coach Kanowski, as our U8 team will skip a year in the upcoming 2024/2025 season and compete as the 5th E-junior team. 🎉
After a season full of Funino games, in which our boys achieved over 100 victories, we will now continue with 5-a-side teams. "The boys have developed very well, but with over 100 victories, the competition no longer presents a challenge," explains Kanowski. However, he is aware that his protégés will face great challenges. "We will have to compensate for the physical disadvantage with clever play, agility, and good teamwork," says the coach.
In the game against JSG Remagen, the team already showed signs of how it can overcome these challenges. "A great experience with a big learning effect," summarized Kanowski. And the best part: after the game, there was ice cream for everyone – the mood was immediately back to top! 🍦😁
