In the rescheduled match of the 22nd matchday of the A-Junioren-Rheinlandliga, the U19 team of Ahrweiler BC lost 1-2 (0-2) to guests TuS Mosella Schweich on Tuesday evening.
As early as the 3rd minute, the young talents from the Ahr Valley had to concede a deficit through a direct corner kick goal from Lukas Maldener, but this did not shock the team of head coach Timo Uhlendahl in the least. In a game that was overall pleasing in terms of play, the team subsequently created good scoring opportunities but mostly failed to beat the confident visiting goalkeeper Hannes Schmitt. The law of football – "If you don't score up front, you concede at the back" – also applied on the astroturf pitch in Bad Neuenahr that evening. In stoppage time of the first half, Maldener scored to make it 0-2 from a tight angle.
Even after the side switch, ABC continued to try to get back into the game. Cristiano Schulze was unlucky in the 53rd minute with a shot hitting the post. While the home team's attacks lost quality under the pressure of dwindling playing time, the Mosella youth failed to decide the match prematurely in good transition situations. A goal was only to be scored in stoppage time. After good preparation by Redon Thaqi, Max Isgaem scored his 14th goal of the season. Unfortunately for ABC, this was the last highlight of the match. Thus, after four games in 2025, the yield remains only one point. However, the lead over the relegation zone is still seven points. Next Saturday, the team will host the current fifth-placed team, JFV Wolfstein/Sieg. The match kicks off at 6:30 PM – again on the middle field in Bad Neuenahr.
