It was one of those weeks that reminds you why you love football – and sometimes makes you curse it a little. The U9 boys' team, a pure U9 squad, had a packed schedule: two league games, a comparison match – all within six days.
On Tuesday, there was a deserved defeat against strong Zissen. "Team spirit and fighting spirit were lacking – the opponents exploited this mercilessly," said coaching team Darijo Matosevic and Alem Porca. Then came the reaction on Friday: Against Vordereifel Kürrenberg, the boys fought their way to victory with passion. A game on equal footing – and this time with the better outcome.
The performance comparison in Beggendorf on Sunday was sobering. Nine teams, a high level, zero wins. Especially bitter: a strong game lost unluckily, after that the air was gone. But the coaches remain optimistic: "We'll shake ourselves off, keep working – and come back with renewed courage and a lot of passion."
