There was plenty of music in the E-youth tournament of SV Westum. As part of the 59th sports week, the junior footballers from Ahrweiler BC showed what they're made of. The E-juniors, both younger and older in age, competed with the U10 and U11 teams – and delivered a real exclamation point.
While Sarah and Dennis Preußner's U10 team, along with Victoria Einert and Jeffrey Yankey, had to concede defeat in a penalty shootout against JSG Bad Breisig in the quarterfinals after a strong preliminary round with three wins and only one loss, they at least secured a respectable fifth place in the overall standings.
"However, the tournament was really well organized by Westum and was fun. Afterward, we could cheer on our E1 in the final. We're looking forward to being there again next year," said coach Sarah Preußner enthusiastically.
In contrast, the ABC's U11 team landed on the top step of the podium – and how. The team coached by André Wenigmann, Ralf Lauterbach, and Gerd Treffer put on a real fireworks display and confidently qualified for the final. There, Mehras Moradi (2) and Noah Willmann scored goals to seal the deal. 3-0 against SG Westum/Löhndorf II – tournament victory.
The U11 team also showed no signs of weakness in the semi-finals, sweeping Grafschafter JSG aside with a 3-1 victory. In total, after seven games, they had six wins, one draw, and had conceded only two goals in the tournament – a demonstration of their own strength.
"A well-deserved tournament victory. You can see how the boys are developing – compact in defense, creative going forward, and with a lot of joy for the game. That's how it's fun," summarized the coaching team around Wenigmann with satisfaction.
Conclusion: Two teams, one strong performance – the E-Juniors of Ahrweiler BC are ready for the new season.
