Ahrweiler BC's U23 team is receiving reinforcements in defense: With Joel Ley, the future A-League club welcomes a familiar face to its ranks. The 21-year-old defender transfers from Kreisliga A relegated team Grafschafter SG to the reserve team of the district capital club.
Ley is no stranger to Ahrweiler BC. The robust left-footer already wore the ABC jersey during his B and A youth days. The defender learned the basics of football at SV Dernau before playing for ABC's youth teams in the senior division, initially in the U23, and then moving to Grafschafter SG after promotion to the district league last summer. Last season, he played in 23 out of 26 possible games for GSG – a testament to his consistency and commitment.
"The restructuring of the team after the relegation from the Bezirksliga convinced me to return to ABC – especially since I'll see some friends there again," Joel Ley says about his move to the Ahr.
Aldin Sukic, the sporting director of the U23 team, is also pleased about the return of the homegrown player: "Joel is an absolute team player and a uncompromising defender who can contribute to a stable defense with his mentality and tackling strength. He brings a strong character and has the right attitude to further develop our young team."
Ahrweiler BC is delighted to welcome back Joel Ley.
