With a strong tournament performance, the U15 team of Ahrweiler BC secured the title at SV Kripp's traditional Vito Cup on Friday evening. Head coach Senad Sukic's team remained undefeated in all matches and did not concede a single goal throughout the competition.
In the preliminary round, the team laid the foundation for later success. Three wins out of three games meant a confident advance to the final, where it faced an internal club duel with their own U14 team. The U14 team had advanced from their group with the same points as SG Andernach, thanks to a superior goal difference of one goal.
Jonas Printzen ultimately provided the deciding goal in the final: With his strike, he put the U15 team ahead, and they defended their lead with great discipline and enthusiasm until the final whistle. In the end, the team deservedly lifted the trophy.
The Grafschafter JSG and SG Andernach finished in third and fourth place. For both ABC teams, the tournament was a successful tough test in preparation. The U15 confirmed their good early form and once again presented themselves as stable in defense, while the U14, coached by Julian Hilberath, was able to gain valuable match practice.
The junior teams will play competitive matches again as early as next weekend: The U15 team will host JFV Schieferland to kick off the Rheinlandliga. The U14 team will first start in the Rheinlandpokal against JSG Bad Breisig, before the league opener awaits with an away game against FC Metternich II.
