++ WHEN THE CLUB HOLDS UP THE MIRROR ++

Football thrives on passion, but sometimes it can turn ugly. This recently happened during a home game of the 1. team of Ahrweiler BC at the Apollinaris Stadium in Bad Neuenahr. A spectator, clearly an ABC supporter, crossed the boundaries of decency and respect and insulted opposing players in the vilest manner. The consequence: a fine from the association for the club. A blow that hurts twice – both sportingly and morally.

The Ahrweiler BC emphasizes unequivocally: such behavior is in clear contradiction to the club's values and represents neither its members nor its fans. However, the club refuses to dismiss the episode as an isolated incident. It takes it as an opportunity for self-reflection and announces consistent action: perpetrators are to be identified, banned from the grounds, and, if necessary, legally held accountable.

For football needs passion – but it also needs character.
