This Friday, the "Thirds" of Ahrweiler BC will host SG Vinxtbachtal-Brohl on the 8th matchday of Kreisliga C. Kick-off on the artificial turf field in Remagen by referee Daniel Richter will be at 8:00 PM.
Both teams have one draw and only wins otherwise in the 22/23 season. The combined team from Vinxbachtal in quintuplicate. The district capital team celebrated four wins. It smells like a top match, yet the guests seem to be the favorites going into the showdown. The names in the squad coached by Dennis Schütz are too impressive. Timo Schmidgen, Patrick Melcher, Tim Aus der Wieschen, and Nico Schunk are exemplary of a team that is far overqualified for the C-Class due to its individual quality.
There was plenty of space on the field during the weeknight training sessions for the team of ABC III head coach Mohamed Abou-Ayda. Injuries and, even more so, flu-like symptoms thinned the ranks of active players both short-term and, unfortunately, long-term. Nevertheless, Abou-Ayda remains calm before the top match: "After a good start to the season, we feel no pressure at all. Against Vinxtbachtal, we want to defend compactly, just as we did recently in Unkelbach. Despite the expected absences, we are capable of putting a decent squad on the field," explains the coach of the current third-place team, who sees their upcoming opponent as "an experienced team" that rightly holds a top spot and is considered the league favorite. "Nevertheless, we want to make the match as positive as possible."
