0:1-Cup exit against Ahrtal II
After a temporary 3-1 lead, the third team of Ahrweiler BC had to settle for a 3-3 (1-1) draw against SGL Heimersheim II last Saturday. The hosts' comeback was also initiated by a yellow-red card (78') for Furkan Kalin. Bleron Leku made his debut as a goalscorer, scoring his first two senior goals in his second game for the team coached by Mohamed Abou Ayda. On Wednesday evening, they suffered a 0-1 (0-1) defeat in the district cup against the eighth-placed team in the Kreisliga C.
An unfavorable division of activities from Ahrweiler's perspective in the first half: ABC III had the first big chances, while Heimersheim scored the first goal. Following a quickly taken throw-in, Jan Schröder found himself in a one-on-one situation and scored the 1-0 lead for the home team with his sixth goal of the season. Almedin Ljaljic equalized the score before halftime with a shot from 18 meters. Unlike the first half, ABC tried to involve the wing more in their attacking efforts at the start of the second half. This paid off immediately. Bleron Leku's two goals (48', 65') to take a 1-3 lead were also set up from the wings. What seemed like a decisive blow, but Furkan Kalin's sending off and the strong spirit of Heimersheim coach Michelle Sulewski's team led to a draw at the end of the game. Jonathan Hörsch scored from a scramble to make it 2-3 (71'), and a rebound off an Ahrweiler defender into his own goal (90'+1) secured the not entirely undeserved draw for the hosts. "Heimersheim certainly deserved the point due to their strong finish, but I'm also anything but satisfied with the defensive work in the last 20 minutes. We need to be more composed even with one man down and see out a 3-1 lead," said ABC coach Mohamed Abou-Ayda. After picking up 5 points in their last four games, they face SC Sinzig on Friday, who, like ABC III, have stumbled in their promotion bid.
On Wednesday evening, the team had to concede a 0-1 defeat against the visiting team SG Ahrtal II in the round of 16 of the district cup. Despite good scoring chances, especially in the first half, the district team was unable to find the back of the net. The ignominious highlight: Almedin Ljaljic had to leave the field in the 81st minute due to a red card. We congratulate SG Ahrtal II on advancing to the quarterfinals and wish them good luck and success in the further course of the cup competition.
