++ ABC LOSES IN MÜLHEIM-KÄRLICH - CHANCE TO MAKE AMENDS ON TUESDAY ++

On Friday evening, Ahrweiler BC had to accept a clear and decisive 1-6 (1-2) defeat at the hands of SG Mülheim-Kärlich in their top-of-the-table Rheinlandliga match – a victory for the hosts under coach Nenad Lazarevic that was deserved in its magnitude. After only one point from their last two matches, ABC has lost its five-point lead and is now level on points with Mülheim-Kärlich and SV Rot-Weiß Wittlich at the top of the highest district league.

But the loss of their sole lead in the standings wasn't the biggest problem that evening. Veteran Markus Pazurek had to be substituted due to injury – diagnosis: fractured fibula. The 34-year-old will be out for months. Additionally, Kevin Wetschorek received a red card for a verbal "foul."

The match began promisingly from the visitors' perspective, as top scorer Almir Porca was unable to participate due to a groin strain sustained in the previous game against SG Schneifel. For the first time this season, the first scoring chance resulted in a goal: Tim Schirmer pushed a cross from Nam-Ju Lee over the line from close range. For about ten minutes, the ABC had everything under control – composed and focused. However, as the game progressed, Mülheim-Kärlich improved and created more space. The hosts' pressure noticeably increased: almost every ball into the ABC penalty area became dangerous. Daniel Aretz (29th minute) and Paul Heuser (34th minute) took advantage of the opportunities presented and turned the game around before the break.

When Hendrik Hillen scored the 3-1 right after the restart, ABC's resistance was broken. Hillen, Martin Jacobs, and Maxim Pede finally extended the score to the final 6-1 result.

An evening to forget – but not one that needs to be remembered. As early as Tuesday, in the third round of the Rhineland Cup, there will be an opportunity for a quick rematch. The ABC will then face SG Mülheim-Kärlich again. With the support of the ABC friends, the right response to the disappointing Friday evening should follow.
