F-Juniors match day according to Funino rules at ABC

What a hustle and bustle some must have thought when they entered the Heimersheim sports field on Sunday morning. The Ahrweiler BC hosted an F juniors game day according to Funino rules. Briefly summarized, this means: four fields with a total of 16 goals and six young players per game, who thus have the choice between two mini-goals when shooting.

Funino, the savior of children's football (?). "The truth is on the pitch," the coaching whiz Otto Rehagel once mused – and he was right. Anyone who watched the children last Sunday quickly noticed the advantages of the new game format. The 6-7 year olds had a ton of fun, experienced success (lots of goals were scored), had plenty of ball contact, and were constantly on the move.

But is everything really "tip-top" with Funino? If entire generations of young footballers from the G-juniors up to leaving the E-juniors only play in teams of three, the team spirit that was known from the apparently already antiquated 7-a-side teams could be lost. Of course, it doesn't have to be, but...

We'll see.

The F-Juniors' matchday last Sunday was definitely a positive experience for the ABC organizers.
