Two completely different halves marked the district league match of the C-Juniors on Saturday between SG Mülheim-Kärlich II and the U14 of Ahrweiler BC. While the hosts already looked like certain winners at halftime with a score of 4-0, Fabian Lorca's team managed to turn the tables in the second half and equalize the match at 4-4. 😮⚽️
Back and forth on the court
Lorca spoke of an open back-and-forth after the match. The ABC youth's goal was struck in the opening minute, and their defense was shaky almost throughout until halftime. Within the last five minutes, the hosts were able to exploit weaknesses in Ahrweiler's defensive play with three more goals. 🥅🕒
All or nothing in the second half
It was all or nothing for the second half. Lorca then played with a back three, and his boys seemed to have understood the situation. With three goals in four minutes, the team came back into the game with goals from Benjamin Begow, Gustaf Scharnbeck, and Erlis Hetemi, bringing the score to 4:3. And it was about to get even better: Erlis Hetemi completed his brace in the 53rd minute. Now, anything was possible again. The U14 hit the woodwork once. On the other side, Louis Barkholz's good saves prevented the decisive goal for SG Mülheim-Kärlich II. Thus, a special game ended, dominated by the offense. ⚽️💥
Derby in sight
As fifth in the table, the team will play the derby in Bad Neuenahr against the Grafschafter youth team this coming Sunday. 🏟️👟
