In the race for 3rd place in the C Juniors Kreisklasse, Ahrweiler BC's C III team secured an important victory. In a direct duel with their previously tied competitors, JSG Vulkaneifel Ettringen II, the protégés of Goran Strk, Alexander, and Yvonne Blauhut won 4-1 (3-1) away.
Unlike in the first leg, which the ABC juniors lost 5-6, the team showed significantly more stability in defense and thoroughly deserved their clear victory. In the first half, Olis Trshani (6th, 25th minute) gave the visitors a two-goal lead with a brace, with assists from Phil Blauhut and Marc Wachsmuth on both occasions. Although the hosts managed to pull one back, Valentin Krastev extended the lead to 3-1 shortly before halftime (32nd minute). Lisi Thaci set up the crucial goal just before the halftime whistle.
In the second half, Ahrweiler didn't let anything else slip and put the final nail in the coffin in the last minute through Jonas Kirchhof to seal the 4-1 final score. Marc Wachsmuth was once again the assist provider.
"My team delivered a very commanding performance overall," stated coach Goran Strk with satisfaction. "With this victory, we've built a three-point lead over Ettringen, putting us on a good path to defend our 3rd place."
The next opponent for the C III is now SGL Heimersheim, one of the title contenders in the league.
