Last Sunday, the championship round of the Rheinlandliga for the D-Juniors of Ahrweiler BC began with a thrilling match against TuS Koblenz, which ended in a 2-2 draw. The encounter took place on the central field in Bad Neuenahr and offered a good quality game with committed performances from both sides.
Head coach Marina Weidenbach and the officials of Ahrweiler BC were satisfied with their team's performance and the hard-fought point share against the youth from the "Schängelschmiede" (referring to Kaiserslautern's youth academy). Both teams are in fourth and fifth place in the table with seven points each, including the points from the preliminary round.
The guests from Deutsches Eck took the lead twice, with David Buzi scoring for TuS Koblenz in the seventh and 41st minutes of the game. However, Ahrweiler BC showed fighting spirit and equalized through goals from Lukas Küpper in the 32nd minute and Noah Richter in the 54th minute.
The U13 team of Ahrweiler BC will compete against FC Metternich next Tuesday. FC Metternich is currently in third place with 13 points, one spot ahead of the "Kreisstadtkickers" (town players from the district capital). It promises to be another exciting match where the boys of Ahrweiler BC will once again give their all to secure important points.
With this hard-fought draw, the D-Juniors of Ahrweiler BC have shown that they are competitive in the Rheinlandliga championship round and will continue to provide exciting games.
