The U12 team bid farewell to the winter break on Saturday with a clear 1:7 (0:4) defeat against JSG Rheinhöhen Urbar. As twelfth in the district league, the team will start the second half of the season with a 6-point deficit to a non-relegation spot.
Urbar dominates the first half
The visitors, currently sixth in the standings, showed their physical and playing superiority from the start. Although ABC's defense held its own in the initial phase, after the first quarter of an hour the visitors increased the pressure and set the course for victory with four goals by halftime.
ABC fights its way back into the game
Despite the significant deficit, Thomas Lorenz and Detlef Kleiss's protégés showed character in the second half. In contrast to the first 30 minutes, the team managed to create their own offensive opportunities. Tom Hildebrandt scored the consolation goal after 37 minutes to make it 1-5 temporarily – his eighth goal of the season. However, the guests' superiority left no doubt about the final score of 1-7.
The return leg starts in March
The team is now looking ahead to the second half of the season, which begins on March 15, 2025, with a home game against FC Plaidt. The coaching staff will use the winter break to optimally prepare the team for the upcoming challenges. The goal remains to close the gap to the non-relegation spots and secure survival in the league.
