The outcome remains the same: The second win of the season for Ahrweiler BC is not happening. On the sixth matchday of the Rheinlandliga, the U19 of ABC and TuS Mosella Schweich drew 2-2 (1-1) on Saturday evening. The team of Maxwell Lunga and Rainard Schulz thus collected their fifth point, but is increasingly losing touch with the midfield of the standings and must primarily look downwards.
The ABC started the match with five changes to the starting lineup. All five newcomers were not in the squad for the previous game. The visitors took advantage of an oversight in the 17th minute to take the lead, before Finn Patschula equalized from the penalty spot. The summer signing confirmed his emerging form with his second goal in three games. It remained a game in controlled mode until halftime, but the second half brought drama.
Max Matschall came into focus, first with the opening goal from a penalty (71'), then with a time penalty. In between, a Schweich player was sent off with a red card. Instead of playing with a numerical advantage, Ahrweiler lost their way. But the hope for a breakthrough was dashed shortly before the end when the visitors equalized from the penalty spot.
What remains is an undeniable result in its logic. Will and effort were present; the harvest did not come. This coming Friday, the opponent is JSG Untermosel-Kobern, a team from the middle of the table – and for Ahrweiler, the next opportunity to break the spell.
