Ahrweiler BC can look forward to a real high-calibre player: Markus Pazurek (36) will strengthen the first team squad for the coming season – and brings not only a wealth of experience but also a great deal of leadership to the red-and-white family.
With over 150 third-division matches (including for Fortuna Köln and 1. FC Saarbrücken) as well as nearly 200 regional league appearances (for TSV 1860 Munich II, Borussia Mönchengladbach II, and VfB Stuttgart II), Pazurek is one of the most experienced players ever to wear the ABC jersey. He most recently played for Sportfreunde Siegen, with whom he celebrated the championship in the Oberliga Westfalen.
Although an injury slowed him down during the season, the veteran is eager for his new role in the county seat. The ABC's Sporting Director is also enthusiastic:
We've been in contact with Markus for some time and are very happy that it has now worked out. Sportingly and personally, Markus is an absolute top transfer. This is exactly the type of player we've been missing.
For Pazurek, the move to ABC was not just a sporting decision. His close friendship with ABC senior department head Gianfranco Di Francesco also played a role. As did his personal connection to the club:
"It feels somewhat like coming home to me," says Pazurek. It's no wonder – his father already worked as a goalkeeping coach for the club for several years, and Markus himself had always kept an eye on the ABC.
Pazuerk will now play with the jersey number 5 – and will not only strengthen the team but also take on a role model position for the many young players in the squad.
"I'm looking forward to an exciting challenge in a team with a lot of talent and development potential," said the exceptional player, who grew up in Bad Breisig, and whose career includes, among other things, a Regionalliga championship and two state cup victories.
Ahrweiler BC warmly welcomes Markus Pazurek and wishes him a successful and fulfilling time at the club, both athletically and personally.
