Under bright sunshine, our E-juniors from Ahrweiler BC participated last Sunday in the traditional Vito Cup in Kripp. Our young talents started with three teams and proved their athletic ability.
The U11 team showed a great performance in the preliminary round with four wins and one draw. However, in the quarterfinals, they were defeated by the youth team of TuS Oberwinter in a penalty shootout. "Nevertheless, the boys can be proud of their performance," emphasized Michael Hildebrandt, team coordinator for the oldest E-Juniors of Ahrweiler BC.
Our U11 II team, composed of players from both age groups, may not have qualified for the playoffs, but they secured an excellent third place in their preliminary round group. They finished ahead of three teams, all of which the U11 II team was able to defeat in all their matches. A great performance!
The youngest players, trained and coached by Dario Matosevic and Lukas Gronwald, faced opponents who were sometimes older and managed to secure one victory amidst four close losses. Coach Matosevic praised the boys' efforts: "They had the opportunity to prove themselves against the older opponents and did a very decent job, even if the results did not always meet our expectations."
We are proud of our E-Juniors and look forward to more great performances in the future.
