Mentally, ABC management had already dealt with the cancellation of this year's first FIEGE Football Holiday Friday, but the favorable weather and current COVID-19 developments allowed 45 football-enthusiastic kids aged six to twelve to participate in the popular event again or for the first time on the football fields of the Apollinaris Stadium in Bad Neuenahr from Tuesday to Friday last week, each day from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
In three age-appropriate groups, the nine trainers in total primarily gave the kids the opportunity to finally play football again under competitive conditions, which they had not been able to do for a long time due to the Corona-induced break. The visible joy of playing among the young footballers demonstrated their almost insatiable hunger for the very simple and traditional "dish" called playing football. "It was almost like always, but rarely have the kids looked forward to interacting with the ball as much as during this FIEGE holiday camp," said Katharina Sternitzke, the head of the holiday camp.
The opportunity to refuel and recharge during the lunch break was provided by the Ristorante Sale e Pepe, located in Bad Neuenahr, a long-standing catering partner of the traditional club from the Ahr region. During short "pit stops," the young football talents also had the option to give themselves an energy boost with fresh fruit at any time. The "word for Friday," the last day of the event, came from ABC U23 player Max Bernards (19), who was active as a coach for the first time at the FIEGE Football Holiday Camp: "It's great fun working with the kids. I'm already looking forward to the next FFFF." This will take place from July 19-23, 2021 (the first week of summer vacation), but it is already completely booked. However, registration for a waiting list is possible.
