On Saturday, Ahrweiler BC faces the third matchday of the Rheinlandliga. Mike Wunderlich's team travels to FC Bitburg – a task that has rarely been easy in the past. In the last three encounters, they've only managed to secure one point, and most recently suffered a 0-2 defeat in Bitburg.
The ABC has started optimally with two clear victories against Wissen and Andernach. The hosts from the beer city are also undefeated: a home win against FV Rübenach was followed by a 1-1 draw at SG Arzfeld. Attacker Simon Floß was particularly accurate, scoring two goals this season.
"It's very difficult to defend against us for 90 minutes," says Wunderlich, who is very satisfied with his offense's performances but still sees room for improvement defensively. With the exception of the injured Luca Marx, the entire squad is available. David Weidner and Jeff Ampadu are also ready to play again.
The match promises to be the toughest test of the season so far.
