++SEASON REVIEW U15 – SOLID PERFORMANCE AND IMPORTANT DEVELOPMENTAL STEPS++

The U15 team of Ahrweiler BC looks back on a season that marks them as the highest-ranking youth squad of the club. With 7th place in the championship round of the Rheinlandliga, the team achieved the best result of all youth teams from the district capital. But behind the numbers is more than just a solid league position – it's continuous development and a dedicated team that is always improving.

In recent years, ABC's U15 teams have consistently stayed well clear of the relegation zone in the Rheinlandliga. Particularly noteworthy was the 2022/2023 season, when the team even managed to win the Rheinland championship. In the past season, the team recorded 8 wins, 5 draws, and 10 losses – a quite balanced record.

The coaching duo Oliver Johann-Ewy and Timo Schäfer have consistently ensured stability and progress. The individual development of many players is particularly pleasing. A good example is Benjamin Megow, who in his second year at ABC transitioned from defense to the attacking center and is proving himself as a promising striker for the U17 team. Alongside him, eight other players from the current squad will also be playing for ABC's B-Juniors next season.

However, two key players are leaving the club: Dion Ademaj, who scored twelve goals, and Simon Gros, who scored six league goals. Both will play for SG Andernach in the Rheinlandliga in the future.

The season was balanced overall in terms of sports performance, and in the end, we can be satisfied with the achieved league position. Of course, as a club, we always want to perform as well as possible – after all, football remains a results-driven sport where it's about winning, drawing, or losing. Nevertheless, player development is our main focus. Each individual should be able to develop both personally and athletically.

In the final phase of the season, a separation occurred with head coach Oliver Johann-Ewy. "Our opinions on the progression of the current season were too far apart," explained youth director Gerd Treffer. After the separation, assistant coach Timo Schäfer, along with goalkeeping coach Torsten Barkholz, took over the sporting responsibility for the team. Both mastered the task very well. Schäfer, who until recently was a player for the U19 team, will switch to the oldest youth team at SG 99 Andernach as an active player.

A big thank you to all the players, coaches, caretakers, supporters, and especially the parents for their commitment and passion. We are looking forward to the upcoming season and are excited to see how our players will continue to develop.
