On Friday, the Ahrweiler BC U12 team played their last match of the performance league against JSG Vordereifel Mendig II. Under the guidance of head coach Gerd Treffer, as well as Bella Angelova and Björn Glasner, the team lost 0-1 (0-1) against the visitors.
Although the boys from the district town showed a good playful performance on the artificial turf of the central pitch in Bad Neuenahr, they often lacked the final consistency in their finishing. They either failed to beat the outstanding visiting goalkeeper or were simply unlucky, as was the case with Levi Figura, who only hit the post.
The game overall reflected the complete spring season in the performance league, which the team finished with nine points after ten games. It should be noted that the squad is consistently comprised of players from the younger D junior age group. Treffer emphasizes the further development of the talents and only secondarily evaluates results and standings.
However, a few things will change in the upcoming season. The current U12 team will form the core of the U13 Rhinelandliga team, which brings new challenges and opportunities.
An exciting time lies ahead, during which the talents of Ahrweiler BC will continue to grow and develop.
