The U13 team of Ahrweiler BC celebrated an important 4-1 victory on Saturday in the top match of the D Juniors District League against the youth team of Rot-Weiß Koblenz. The guests got off to a better start and took an early lead after a quick transition. However, the league leaders' response was not long in coming: just two minutes later, Marek Schunk (photo) used a long goal kick from keeper Jakub Sikkes to equalize. Subsequently, the ABC dictated the play and was rewarded in the 23rd minute when Yassin El Toufaili converted a rebound to take a 2-1 lead at halftime.
After the side change, the game remained intense. While Sikkes made several strong saves, Luis Klasen scored the 3-1 in the 51st minute with a shot into the near corner. Schunk scored the final goal again after an hour, calmly hitting the corner. With this victory, the district capital's youth team confidently maintains its lead in the standings and looks optimistically towards the upcoming match at JSG Damscheid.
