The U17 team finished the district league season with a 6-1 (4-1) home victory against FV Rübenach on the final matchday, placing the team under head coach Karl-Heinz Classen in seventh place in the standings.
Saturday's result reflects the team's good performances in the last third of the season. During this phase, the team earned 16 points from seven matches, thus freeing themselves from the precarious situation of impending relegation. This is also a great achievement of numerous U15 players who were called upon repeatedly and played a significant role in the team's sporting resurrection. For example, Giulio Cristofalo (photo), who scored three of his five season goals against FV Rübenach. ⚽👏
Besides the sporting rollercoaster, however, there were also other turbulences that were anything but performance-enhancing. Classen is already the fourth coach this season. Therefore, the team's final sprint in an overall rather suboptimal season cannot be praised highly enough. Whether juniors, seniors, or U15 players – the boys showed heart and determination and secured their league status, despite much background noise that continued until the end of the season. 💪❤️
The U17 team, with its many younger players this season, can look forward to the upcoming season with optimism. The groundwork has already been laid. 🚂🌟
Against Rübenach, in addition to hat-trick scorer Cristofalo, Jakob Forster, William Glassmann, and Linus Brämm also scored. 🎯🎉
