Last Saturday evening, it looked like a win for the Ahrweiler BC U17 for a long time. However, two late goals from set pieces only secured a draw for Coach Patrick Pöschmann's team against FC Rot-Weiß Koblenz II. Despite the bitter result, Pöschmann was full of praise for his players' performance.
A game of ups and downs:
The first half already showed the potential of the young ABC players. William Gläsmann put his team in the lead after converting a precise cross from Critiano Schulze for a 1-0 score. In the second half, Ahrweiler BC maintained control of the game and increased their lead to 2-0 through Veljko Pörös. Despite further good chances, the team couldn't extend their lead, partly thanks to a strong opposing goalkeeper.
A bitter end:
In the final minutes of the game, the tide turned in favor of the visitors. A free kick from a central position and a penalty kick led to the late equalizers that secured a draw for FC Rot-Weiß Koblenz. Coach Pöschmann remained combative, emphasizing his team's strength: "We lost two points today. But we move on. A great team!"
Outlook:
Despite the bitter draw, the U17 team of Ahrweiler BC remains on a successful course and resumes play after the autumn break on Sunday, October 29th, with an away game in Plaidt.
We are proud of the achievements of our young players and look forward to the upcoming challenges!
