++U19 from Ahrweiler BC with a deserved home victory against Höhr-Grenzhausen++

After two clear defeats against FSV Trier-Tarforst and SG Mülheim-Kärlich, the Ahrweiler BC U19 showed a different side last weekend. In their home game on the 27th matchday of the Rheinlandliga, the team defeated JSG Kannenbäcker Höhr-Grenzhausen 5-2 (2-2).

The team of head coach Timo Uhlendahl got off to a strong start: As early as the 14th minute, the oldest youth team of the district capital club was leading 2-0 thanks to goals from Max Isgaem (11') and Redon Thaqi (14'). However, as the first half progressed, the team played inexplicably insecurely and conceded two goals to equalize before halftime.

Even after the break, the U19 team started the game well. Just like in the first half, they scored two quick goals – this time through Boubacar Kouyate (55th minute) and Max Küpper (60th minute). Unlike in the first half, the team remained focused and gave the opponent hardly any room to play. Further scoring chances initially went unused. Elias Holzem scored the final goal in the last minute of the game, sealing a deserved 5-2 home victory in the second-to-last home game of the season.

With the three goals, Ahrweiler BC solidifies ninth place in the standings.

Next Saturday, the away game against third-placed JFV Bitburg is scheduled.
