++U23 SHOWS ENGAGED PERFORMANCE IN THE FACE OF THE DISASTROUS RESULT++

With a match against the Bezirksliga team TuS Oberwinter, the Ahrweiler BC U23 opened the sports week in Gönnersdorf on Friday evening. The team of Ricardo Ribeiro lost 0-2 (0-0). Both goals for the guests were scored by former ABCler Max Blohm in the 57th and 63rd minutes.

The match developed into a competitive midfield battle with few clear scoring opportunities on both sides. The U23 had a handful of chances overall, but failed to capitalize on them. In the first half, Gabriel Wüst (pictured) showed impressive performance and largely kept his opponents out of the game. The ABC U23, which was reinforced with Mohannad Saaed and Bartek Metza from the first team squad, implemented the training content of the last two weeks to some extent and presented themselves improved in the game primarily in possession of the ball. After the match, coach Ricardo Ribeiro said: “I am satisfied with the team’s attitude and will.”

For the U23s, this was the second test match in the summer preparations after the 5-1 victory against SV Kripp. Already on Sunday morning, the next tough test awaits them at the Mittelrhein A-League club SSV Weilerswist.
