With a last-minute goal from Louis Kleiss right before the end of regular time, our U11 secured the coveted district championship title on Saturday morning in Mertloch with a 4:3 (1:1) victory against JSG Nickenich! 🏆⚽️
At halftime, the score was already 1-1, and the numerous spectators on the beautifully located sports field in Mertloch could look forward to an exciting second half. Tom Hildebrandt put us in the lead in the 5th minute. However, Louis Schneider equalized for JSG Nickenich after 24 minutes.
After the break, things really picked up: Tom Hildebrandt (35', 38') once again put our team in the lead. But the opponents immediately struck back. Louis Schneider (37') and Jannick Besse (39') ensured the equalizer. In summer temperatures, the combined team apparently had more reserves. Thanks to two great saves by our keeper Marian Herschbach, it initially remained a draw. Just as everyone was expecting overtime, Louis Kleiss scored the decisive play and the golden goal after a corner from Tom Hildebrandt! 🥇🎉
Our boys' cheers knew no bounds after the final whistle, while the disappointment on the other side was just as great. Both teams put on a fantastic performance and deserve our utmost respect! 👏👏
