The D Juniors teams of Ahrweiler BC and FC Metternich faced each other on Saturday for matchday 6 of the championship round in the Rheinlandliga in Bad Neuenahr under summer temperatures. The U13 team from the district town on the Ahr was able to celebrate their second consecutive victory, after already winning 3-1 against TuS Koblenz the previous week. This time, the team won 4-2 against the third-placed team.
According to the coaching staff of the junior ABClers, led by interim coach Jankin Hasan, the three points were a deserved success for their team. The team worked with commitment and motivation from the start. In the opening minute, Noah Richter scored from the second row into the lower left corner. Leon Bertram followed suit after 15 minutes of play, scoring into the near corner after a solo run down the right attacking flank to make it 2-0. Prior to that, the tireless and ever-alert Ole Klaes had won the ball and passed it to the goal scorer. Metternich gained momentum in the second half of the first 30 minutes and managed to pull one back to make it 2-1 with a directly converted free kick before the break.
The good streak of the guests from Koblenz's north continued at the start of the second half, until Klaes was once again in the thick of the action and intercepted a defensive error by Metternich, setting up Lukas KΓΌpper, who scored to make it 3-1 β KΓΌpper's third goal in the championship round. This provided a morale boost for the ABC youth team, who then actively shaped the game again. Edonis Gerguri, very noticeable both offensively and defensively, powerfully broke through on the right attacking flank after 52 minutes. Leon Bertram utilized his pass
With the ultimately deserved 4-2 victory, the young footballers from the Ahr Valley secured fifth place in the standings for now. Next weekend, the duel against the second-placed team, Sportfreunde Eisbachtal, will take place again on the central pitch in Bad Neuenahr.
