Last weekend, at TV Mühlhoven's Christmas indoor cup in Neuwied, the younger E-junior players from the district capital impressed with a good performance. In the group stage, they confidently qualified for the quarterfinals with three wins. There, Dario Matosevic and Lukas Gronwald's boys narrowly beat JSG Kamp-Bornhofen 2-1.
The semi-final was exciting: The young ABC players had to concede defeat to FC Metternich after a 7-meter throw shootout. At the end of the event, after successfully winning the small final against JSG Nickenich, which was held in the 7-meter shootout format, the team secured a deserved bronze medal.
Head coach Darijo Matosevic praised the entire team, particularly highlighting the outstanding performance of goalkeeper Henri Stege: "With his great saves, Henri gave the guys the necessary support for their good tournament performance." 🧤⚽️
The U10 team of Ahrweiler BC is now heading into their well-deserved winter break, returning strengthened on January 13th for the first round of the District Hall Championship. After convincing performances on the field, the young talents have also shown in the hall that their development curve is pointing sharply upwards.
