Assistant coaches \u2013 they rarely stand in the spotlight. While the head coach gets the headlines, it's often the assistants who set the tone in training, conduct conversations, resolve tensions, and provide impetus. This is particularly true for the U23 team at Ahrweiler BC. There, Christopher Breuer and Tobias Roth, two individuals who couldn't be more different, work together \u2013 yet pursue the same goal: developing young players and cultivating the joy of football.<\/p>\n
Breuer, 34, has been with ABC since 2022. Professionally, he commutes between the IT industry and youth welfare, and on the field, he is active as team coordinator and assistant coach. Previously a versatile player himself \u2013 defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder, forward \u2013 he brings structure and attitude to the team. What drives him? \"Seeing the boys develop, week after week.\" He also remembers special moments like the double in the 23\/24 season. Breuer values open communication and honesty \u2013 principles he also adopts from his role model, Pep Guardiola. His goal: to form a team that plays for each other and with each other, never loses its enjoyment, and represents the club externally as a likable football family.<\/p>\n
Anders, 44, found his way to ABC through conversations with Jonny Susa and Aldin Sukic. He works professionally as a TV producer, a world away from football. Since the summer, he has been on the field as a player-assistant coach. His football past includes stints at Bonner SC, FC Hennef, FC Germania Dattenfeld, and FV Endenich. Roth doesn't see himself as a typical coach: \"That was never my goal.\" But now he enjoys passing on his knowledge. His approach is disciplined, \"old school,\" but never without fun. He can interpret losses, like the recent top-of-the-league match in Kreisliga A against Plaidt, positively if the performance is right.<\/p>\n
Both are united by their respect for the team, the desire to develop young players \u2013 and the joy of living and breathing football for ABC week after week. For Ahrweiler BC, they are far more than just co-trainers. They are trendsetters, motivators, and correctors. And above all: people who are passionate about what they do.
