The 3rd team of Ahrweiler BC won 9-3 (5-0) against SG Kempenich on Saturday, marking the perfect conclusion to an overall good season and an outstanding second half. The team coached by Mohamed and Ualied Abou-Ayda thus finished the season in fifth place in the Kreisliga C.
The question of who would emerge victorious from the match on the artificial turf in Remagen was quickly answered. For the most part, play was directed towards the visitors' goal. After a hat-trick from Denis Zogaj (9', 18', 42') and goals from Almedin Ljaljic (38') and Benjamin Ferber (45'), the team from the district capital already led 5-0 at halftime.
After restarting, the team quickly extended their lead to 7-0 through Bilal Elgergawy (49') and Almedin Ljaljic again (53'), before both teams delighted the spectators with five more goals. While Can Jubelius scored a hat-trick for the visitors, Ualied Abou-Ayda and Denis Zogaj, who scored his fourth goal of the day, also found the back of the net for ABC III.
While the team had only earned 14 points after the first half of the season, they managed to add 27 points in the second half. The team came together, and a few new signings, all young players who once grew up in the youth academy, led to a turnaround and an upswing. As a conclusion to the past season, only a thumbs-up is appropriate. Top, that was a strong season with a really good second half – we're proud of you guys!
