ABC III LOSES TOP GAME AGAINST VINXTBACHTAL

"In the end, a deserved defeat against a well-organized opponent," summarized ABC III coach Mohamed Abou-Ayda after the 1:2 (1:1) last Saturday against SG Vinxtbachtal. The district town team could have left the field as the winner in the duel of the two previously unbeaten teams. Already in the opening minutes, both Adnan Gerguri and Benedikt Ferber went one-on-one towards the opponent's goal – but failed to finish positively. Rico Reuter did better; his 30-meter free kick went past friend and foe into the net for the 0:1 (7') goal, guarded by Julian Pelikan. Mohamed Abou-Ayda, coach and goal scorer in one person, used a volley from a corner kick taken by Benedikt Ferber to score the 1:1 (34'), which was also the halftime score.

The start of the second half also belonged to ABC III, but SG goalkeeper Kai Kohlenbeck made a "killer" save on Fidai Misini's shot and prevented ABC III from taking the lead. After a bit of a lull, in which both teams neutralized each other, the decision in this match, rightly predicted as a top game, was to be made. The Abou-Ayda eleven was just blowing for a final offensive when a turnover in midfield was to herald their first defeat of the season. The visitors, who were very secure in their passing overall, used the moment to set up their top striker Timo Schmidgen, who had no trouble extending the lead to 2-1 (76th minute). This was already Schmidgen's 12th goal of the season. For ABC III, it was the end in this match, in which Mohamed Abou-Ayda also lacked the right mentality from his players: "For a top game, the team didn't show the necessary attitude. That has to be different in the difficult city derby on Saturday against Heimersheim II."
