The 3rd team of Ahrweiler BC has started their summer preparations. As early as July 4th, the duo Mohamed and Ualied Abou-Ayda welcomed 19 players to the official training start. Unlike last season, the C-League team wants to be able to compete in the top third of the table right from the start of the season this time. After 14 points in the first half of the 21/22 season, the third team followed up with a strong 27 points in the second half of the season.
The team's personnel has changed slightly. Two external players will strengthen the team in the future: Marco Schumacher (SC Bad Bodendorf II) and Adnan Gerguri (SG Bachem/Walporzheim), both with ABC history. In addition, two youth players, Luan Gerguri and Gent Tmava, are joining. Among the few departures, the loss of Paolo Di Paola (SV Oberzissen II) is particularly felt.
Two test matches have been played so far. Both matches, against B-League teams SG Niederzissen and SV Oberzissen II, resulted in 4-2 losses. Further performance tests will follow: This Friday evening, the team will compete against the newly founded U23 team of SV Remagen (kick-off: 8:00 PM). Away matches at SV Niederbachem II (July 17) and SG Kürrenberg (July 20) will follow, before the start of the Kreisliga C season on August 14 with a match at promoted team SV Kripp II.
The performances in the test matches and training sessions have been good so far. I think we can look forward to the new season positively, says Mohamed Abou Ayda.
