Last Saturday, our U10 team, the younger age group coached by Andre Wenigmann, Darijo Matosevic, and Ralf Lauterbach, competed in the ADAC Younggeneration Cup. The tournament was excellently organized by SC Germania Geyen and offered exciting and great moments of children's football.
Our young kickers started the preliminary round with a bang: With convincing victories of 7:1 against SC Germania Geyen II and 5:0 against SV Fühlingen, they showed their strength. In the last preliminary round match, our team drew 0:0 with SV Eilendorf after a focused performance, which meant winning the group and advancing to the final.
In the final against SV Lövenich-Widdersdorf, our team was under pressure from the start and quickly fell behind 0-2. However, our boys showed great character and fought back with goals from Liam Wenigmann and David Matosevic to equalize at 2-2. In the decisive penalty shootout, Lövenich-Widdersdorf had the better of it and won 2-1, making the overall score 4-3.
The coaches of Ahrweiler BC were very satisfied with the performance of their protégés: "We are proud of the team's performance. Coming back from a 0-2 deficit against a really strong opponent in a final is a great achievement." The host also received high praise: "Great organization and a swift execution. Top!"
