The cup defeat on Wednesday, when the ABC juniors deservedly exited the Rheinlandpokal 0-3 at SV Heimbach-Weis, seemed to continue on Saturday in league play against the same opponent. The visitors, who had lost their first three matches in the championship round, were already leading 0-3 after nine minutes and took that seemingly secure advantage into the halftime break.
After the break, the U13 team then showed the skill, passion, and commitment that had made them so strong until the winter break, dominating the second half of the game. Pushed again and again by Edonis Gerguri and captain Joans Printzen, the ABC youth squad created good chances in front of the opponent's goal and was rewarded with two goals from Endri Gashi (33') and Printzen (47'). Printzen and Ole Klaes had significantly contributed with their excellent assists. However, it was not enough to equalize, which was also due to the quick-reacting visiting goalkeeper Jan Billig. 🧤⚽️
Both teams are currently tied on points in the last two spots in the standings for the league's top D-juniors. The ABC is visiting the youth team from TuS Koblenz's "Schängelschmiede" next weekend.
